New Resource - Libby by Overdrive

Libby is a reading app by OverDrive, which allows users to borrow eBooks and audiobooks from the library. In audio, we currently have a full run of Shakespeare and some titles from L.A. Theatre Works and a handful of English titles. We also have over 5,000 titles from 4 University Presses in eBook format which cover many disciplines. View/listen on your computer or use the Libby app to read/listen to subscribed content. Search for and add University of South Dakota as your library and then add your USD library card by signing in with your USD credentials.

USING THE LAWRENCE HPC CLUSTER
This two-part workshop from the Research Computing Group will
familiarize attendees with the Linux command line and walk them
through accessing Lawrence, USD’s high performance computing
cluster, to run interactive and batch computing jobs.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2025
1 PM - 4 PM, ID WEEKS 321

This session introduces attendees to the Bash shell command line
interface, including navigating and working with files/directories, as well
as using SSH, SSH-Keys, SFTP, and the Globus file transfer service. If time
permits, we will also cover more advanced Bash topics such as pipes,
loops, and shell scripting. If possible, please bring your own computer.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2025
1 PM - 4 PM, ID WEEKS 321
This session will describe the various resources available on Lawrence, their
best uses, and how to interact with the SLURM job scheduler. We will also go
over running interactive and batch jobs. This session requires basic familiarity with the Linux command line, either through previous experience or by attending Part 1 of this series. If possible, please bring your own computer.

Trial - Bloomsbury Medieval Studies

Bloomsbury Medieval Studies

E-Books and E-Texts, Images and Sound. Interdisciplinary collection on medieval studies combines primary sources and interdisciplinary scholarship from a global perspective. Contents include the Encyclopedia of the Global Middle Ages, digitized medieval maps from the British Library, manuscripts and incunabula, and over one thousand images of medieval objects from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Research and Learning section of the site offers lesson plans and subject guides to support medieval studies instruction.

Trial is set up to begin September 8, 2025, and last until October 8, 2025.
