Message from Ancestry:
Ancestry.com remains dedicated to providing users with an easy-to-use, intuitive product that takes advantage of the best technology available in order to deliver a high-caliber customer experience. To that end we are announcing that, as of June 15th [2014], Ancestry Library Edition will no longer be supported in the Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) web browser. Depending on operating system implementation, this may affect some locations more than others.

As you may have heard, Microsoft recently stopped support of the Windows XP operating system. Internet Explorer 8 is actually the latest version of that web browser available to that OS. If your location is still running Windows XP on your machines, this message impacts you the most as it will be necessary to switch to a newer OS altogether in order to get a newer version of that web browser. If you are currently running Windows Vista, you do have the option of upgrading to Internet Explorer 9 for the time being, but we also have plans to phase out support for all versions of IE except IE11 (the current version) in the coming months. Updating to IE11 requires your computers to be running at least Windows 7.

Please note that Ancestry.com still continues to fully support the latest versions of Firefox, and Chrome in the Windows operating environment. So if you do not have the option of moving off of Windows XP, we would strongly encourage you to switch to one of those alternate browsers in order to have the best experience possible.
