Sculptures by Leila Ghasempor

Located in University Libraries , second  floor atrium.

Ghasempor’s work is diverse since she does sculpture, ceramic and painting in lots of medium;  including pastel, watercolor, gouache, crayon, chalks, colored pencil, and acrylic. Her works comes from her imagination and the concerns that she has.  Examples include the weather in her native country Iran, and social concerns in other countries around the world. Ghasempor states she would also like to be an activist.

ProQuest product downtime August 20-21

Over the weekend of Saturday-Sunday, 20 -21 Aug. 2016, a ProQuest product maintenance window will launch worldwide to upgrade infrastructure.

During this 8-hour window, some ProQuest products will be unavailable. While the date and time were chosen to minimize the impact on our customers, we realize that some users may be affected, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Downtime: Saturday, 20 Aug., 9:00 p.m. through Sunday, 21 Aug., 5:00 a.m.

During the window, web-based customer access will be redirected to a webpage stating the planned maintenance times.

Exhibit - Caroline Bowersox Collection of William Henry Jackson Photochroms

On display in the Archives - The Caroline Bowersox Collection of William Henry Jackson Photochroms. The collection contains 187 prints from the Detroit Publishing Company.

Political pins on display

The Allan H. Schell Collection of Campaign Buttons, Pins, And Political Ephemera was created by Allan H. Schell, and chiefly contains political pins, buttons, posters, pennants, and ephemera related to United States and South Dakota political positions in the 20th century.
Pins from US Presidential and SD Gubernatorial campaigns are on display in the Archives and Special Collections in ID Weeks.

New Database - Proquest - US Major Dailies

ProQuest has added US Major Dailies, providing access to five of the country’s most respected national & regional newspapers offering researchers complete and timely coverage of local, national and world events, from 1980-present. The newspapers included are the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Time, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post. ProQuest continues to contain ProQuest Discovery and Research Library databases. Within ProQuest, you may search one, two or all three of these databases simultaneously.

ILLiad Server Maintenance - July 13

ILLiad will be down starting at 9:00 pm on Wednesday, July 13th, 2016 and it could last up to 4 hours.

ProQuest platform maintenance- July 9

ProQuest will be taking a two-hour maintenance window on July 9th from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM to prepare for the upcoming migration to a cloud-based infrastructure.

During this time access to ProQuest databases will not be available and users will be re-directed to a webpage explaining the scheduled maintenance.

Cengage Gale cancellation

As of June 30, 2016, South Dakota will no longer subscribe to the Gale databases.  Thus, USD will no longer offer these databases to our users.  This action is part of cost sharing measures at the statewide level.
